Rita Mae Brown, New York Times best-selling author, activist, and screenwriter, will present an author talk and book signing starting at 7 p.m., Thursday, October 10, 2019, at Christopher Newport University’s David Student Union. Brown is the author of over 50 books including the Mrs. Murphy series and Sister Jane novels. This is the thirteenth major author event presented by the Virginia Peninsula Literary Consortium (VPLC).

Free tickets for the event are available beginning Tuesday, Sept. 3, at the sponsoring libraries of the VPLC, which consists of the public libraries of York County, Newport News, Hampton, and Poquoson and the academic libraries of Christopher Newport University, Hampton University and Thomas Nelson Community College. Tickets will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis and limited to two per person while supplies last. Ticket holders will be seated first at the event; any remaining seats will then be open to the general public.
