 Join members of the Sisters in Crime group at the Yorktown Library for The Art of Writing: A free two-part workshop and panel.
Part Two will begin at 2 p.m. with a panel covering "Authors in Your Own Backyard". Panel attendees will learn how and why local authors use actual or fictionalized Virginia settings. Jayne Ormerod will moderate this panel of local authors, including Teresa Inge, Maria Hudgins and Allie Marie. Registration is required.

Author Bios
Jayne Ormerod writes what she knows, cozy mysteries about small towns with beach settings. (The dead bodies are purely a figment of her imagination.) Maria Hudgins is the author of the Dotsy Lamb Travel Mysteries and the Lacy Glass Archaeology Mysteries. She is a contributor to the Sisters in Crime Virginia Beach Chapter Anthologies, Virginia is for Mysteries, I and II, and Fifty Shades of Cabernet. A former high school teacher of Oceanography, Earth Science, and Chemistry, she lives in Hampton, VA. Her most recent release is “Name Your Poison” in the 50 Shades of Cabernet anthology. Retired from law enforcement in Virginia, Allie Marie began writing mysteries inspired by colonial ancestors she discovered while researching her family tree. She has published a series of novels that are set in Olde Towne section of Portsmouth, VA, where ghosts from the 18th century haunt three modern-day women to uncover old family secrets. Her latest release is “Voice of the Just: The Blue Sapphire Story”, with “Hands of the Healer: The Christmas Emerald” expected in early 2018.
