Want to learn more about the day-to-day operations of the police department? Crime Scene Investigations? SWAT? Crisis Negotiations? Join us on August 31, 2017 from 6-7:30pm to get a quick inside look at what the Evans Police Department does on a day-to-day basis to keep us safe. This "mini" academy will give you a taste of what we will be covering in the longer Fall 2017 Citizens Police Academy*. *The eight-week academy will begin on September 7, 2017 with classes held on Thursday evenings from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and end on October 26, 2017. You must be at least 18 years of age. A background check will be completed on applicants prior to acceptance. The Citizens Police Academy promotes community partnerships and is designed to familiarize Evans residents with the day-to-day operations of the police department. Participants will attend lectures and discussion on tops such as: crime scene investigations, traffic enforcement, accident investigation, gangs, SWAT, crisis negotiations, narcotics, use of force, less lethal force and internal affairs.
