Event Details

The Spanish Colony and Hispanic heritage in Weld County - Jody and Gabriel Lopez Jody and Gabriel Lopez’s interest in the Greeley Spanish Colony was sparked while researching Gabriel's family roots. They became involved in an oral history project with the City of Greeley Museums, which evolved into a book they (with Peggy Ford Waldo) wrote about the Spanish Colony workers of Greeley and Weld County. Their published account is one of few that tells the stories of struggles and accomplishments of early Mexican farm workers in Northern Colorado. Today the Lopezes continue to provide educational outreach by speaking about the history of Colorado migrant farm workers.
