Event Details

Colorado’s Best Ghost Towns covers thirty-four abandoned towns in a variety of places throughout the state. The presentation includes a brief history of each town along with its location and what it is like to visit. Some of these ghost towns are open to the public during the summer, and others are obscure and in remote areas. In addition to their history, information about preservation efforts are included as well. Kenneth Jessen has lived in Loveland for 50 years and is author of 20 books on Colorado as well as 2,000 illustrated published articles. He acts as a tour guide and lecturer and has made a number of television appearances including CBS Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood. At present, he lectures at Colorado State University’s adult education program (OSHER). He is best know for his published information on Estes Park, Rocky Mountain National Park, railroad history and the ghost towns of Colorado spread out over Colorado’s 64 counties. He and his wife Sonje are world travelers having visited all of the continents and a third of the countries in the world. They have spent over two years at sea cruising almost all of the world’s oceans. Jessen holds both a BSEE and MBA and has done post graduate work on communication technology through CU.
