Event Type: Training Date: 4/23/2021 Start Time: 10:00 AM End Time: 12:00 PM Description: Location: Zoom
Library: Maryland State LibraryWe are all so new at communicating with data that we often assume that it will speak for itself. We know some basics about data and statistics. But are your data and stats actually creating an argument? Telling a story? Or are you leaving it up to the reader to guess what is important and why? We’ll walk through numerous examples of how you can sharpen your message with an accessible but powerful toolkit of storytelling strategies and graphic tweaks. You know your data tells a powerful story -- let’s make sure the message is getting across. This two-hour webinar is geared towards marketing teams, data coordinators, library leadership, grant writers, department heads, branch managers, and others responsible for communicating impact for use in board presentations, stakeholder publications, grant reports, municipal communications, advocacy, and managerial communications. Users will be provided with sample Google Sheets and Google Slides documents to edit and customize as we go through the workshop. Please bring a standard Sharpie marker and some blank copy paper to the session so you can doodle ideas!
